Canada's NDP

THOMPSON - NDP incumbent Niki Ashton (Churchill—Keewatinook Aski) kicked off her campaign for reelection in Thompson. Speaking in front of the Thompson post office, Ashton said that voters will have a clear choice in the upcoming election.

“The Liberals will once again be putting forward the same empty promises that they failed to deliver on last time," said Ashton. “The NDP will be putting forward a New Deal for People in our North. First Nations and Northern communities expected this government to bring change. Instead, we are seeing a growing housing crisis, inaction on health and education and little movement to address the infrastructure needs of the North.”
“People feel betrayed by Trudeau's Liberals. Instead of real change, we have seen more of the same," added Ashton. "More of the same failed policies that Liberal and Conservative governments have brought in for decades that have ignored our North.”

People in Northern Manitoba are finding it impossible to make ends meet. Ashton will campaign on a New Deal for People that outlines a plan to make life more affordable for First Nations and Northern communities. The NDP’s priorities in this election include action on the housing crisis, fighting for universal pharmacare, investment in infrastructure, tackling climate change and supporting economic development in Northern Manitoba.

“I am proud to have held Trudeau's Liberals to account. Northerners need someone who is on their side. I am committed to being a strong voice for our North," concluded Ashton.
